Neue Klamotten gibt es seit 2010, nun endlich aber auch wieder einen Blog. Der ist allerdings umgezogen, weil der alte hier schon fast in die Mottenkiste gehört.

But attention girls overseas, when we order outside Europe (or you people overseas order within Europe the other way around) customs are due. Well, we have a saying here: who wants to be beautiful has to suffer, and I guess that includes the wallet.

Aber Achtung Mädels: auf die horrenden Versandkosten kommen auch noch Zollgebühren drauf. Naja, wer schön sein will muss leiden und die Geldbörse wohl gleich mit vermute ich.

Wetterbericht

Weiterhin Minusgrade im ganzen Land. Doppelt eingepackt hält besser - der Zwiebellook. Und das erste Frühlingsvögelchen ist auch schon unterwegs - wenn bisher auch nur auf nem Button.

Brown at Balzac

I´m a non-coffee drinker, but I dig the cocoa specialitites at Balzac Coffee. Last week I went there to grab a cup and to try my new purse and blouse in public.

Still Snowing

Hier im Norden schneit es weiter. Ärgerlich auf dem Weg zur Arbeit - schön am Feierabend..., natürlich nur mit einem kuscheligen Outfit.

"Für Sie" - "For Her"

Als begeisterte Frauenzeitschriftleserin fiel mir ein Beitrag in der "Für Sie" vom Dezember mit Looks fürs Büro bis Größe 60 besonders positiv auf. Leider kommt ja die Frau mit Übergröße oft viel zu kurz. Die Sachen sehen jedenfalls allesamt echt tragbar und chick aus.
Titel der Strecke und mein Urteil: Große Klasse!

As a passionate reader of womens magazines I took positive notice of a shoot in the German magazine "Für Sie" (=for her) from december with office looks until approximately size 32. Unfortunately women with plus sizes come way too short in print. But these suggestions are all very wearable and chick! Title of the shoot and my opinion: Classic!

Grün, grün, grün sind alle meine Kleider

Bestimmt ist der einen oder anderen schon aufgefallen, dass meine Seite ganz in grün gestaltet ist. Meiner absolute Lieblingsfarbe. Auch bei Klamotten greife ich gern schonmal zur Farbe der Hoffnung. Grün ist so beruhigend und frisch finde ich. Perfekt dazu passt also dieser Glücksgriff aus dem Zizzi-Regal....

A Chick on Speed

Last year I went to a "Chicks on Speed" concert. They are a very feminist and awesome girl group. Usually not my kind of music (to much electro, too little rock), but great show!!

Anyway: they have a song called "FASHION RULES" which very much matched my mood when I featured this outfit that day....

Letztes Jahr war ich bei einem "Chicks on Speed" Konzert. Die sind ausgesprochen feministisch und eine tolle Mädchenband. Normalerweise nicht meine Art Musik (zu viel Elektro, zu wenig Rock), aber großartige Show!!!

Wie auch immer: die haben einen Song namens "FASHION RULES" der ziemlich gut zu meiner Stimmung passte als ich zum Auftritt dieses Outfit auswählte....

Maite Kelly

Who remembers the Kelly family with blond, chubby Maite in between? Honestly, I´ve never been a fan, but I am thrilled by the latest TV appearances of the bubbly lady. Maite is still a little plump and at the sime time absolutely stunning with her happy and kind way of being. To fresh up memories here a press photo of hers - right now she is acting as Tracy Turnblad in the musical "Hairspray" (the girl on the right, the one on the left is actor Uwe Ochsenknecht). Mind notice for myself: watch film or live version of the musical. Hairspray is supposed to be awesome...plus I love big hair. Wer erinnert sich noch an die Kelly Family mit der blonden, moppeligen Maite dazwischen? Ich war ehrlich gesagt nie Fan, aber bin begeistert von den neuesten Auftritten im TV der bubbly lady. Maite ist immer noch ein bisschen pummelig und gleichzeitig absolut bezaubernd mit ihrer fröhlichen und witzigen Art.

Zur Erinnerung hier ein Pressefoto von ihr - zur Zeit spielt sie ja im Musical Hairspray die Tracy Turnblad (das rechte Mädel, der linke ist Uwe Ochsenknecht). Kopfnotiz: Filmversion oder sogar das Musical unbedingt angucken. Hairspray soll nämlich toll sein....plus ich liebe auftoupierte, voluminöse Haare.

Big Grrrl is back.
Mein Vorsatz für das neue Jahr: toll aussehen. Und weiterbloggen. Klamotten shoppen und andere große Größen Fashion Victims kennenlernen. Die lange Pause hab ich dazu genutzt ein noch schlaueres Köpfchen zu werden, um hoch offiziell examiniert zu werden. Ab jetzt gibts hier also noch mehr probierte, studierte und durchdefinierte Mode von einer die gelegentlich Zeit für den Oberflächenputz hat ;)

I´ve been told these boots are Robin Hood style... because of the brown wild leather look.

Meistens mag ich ich unauffälligere Ohrringe, aber Sylvester durfte es ruhig ein bisschen mehr bling-bling sein.

Usually I prefer smaller earrings, but New Year I wanted to add a little more bling.

Dicke Freunde

Meine Liebe zur Kleidung ist erst spät erwacht. Als Teenager hatte ich größte Schwierigkeiten mit meinem Körper und damit Sachen in meiner Größe zu finden. Und dann kam die Wende: ein Jahr in Amerika. Dem Shoppingparadies für Übergrößen. Das allerbeste aber war eine wahre Freundin (sie wird wissen, dass sie gemeint ist), die damals eine ähnliche Kleidergröße hatte und mir zeigte wieviel Spaß es macht tolle Klamotten auszusuchen und miteinander zu kombinieren.

My adoration for clothing started late. As a teenager I had huge difficulties with my body and to find things in my size. And then everything changed: a ear in the United States. Shopping paradise for plussizes. The best thing about it though was my true friend (she´ll know that I´m talking about her now), that had a similar size back then and showed me how much fun it was to pick awesome clothing and to combine them with each other.

Freundinnen sind immer fantastisch und bereichern das Leben, jede auf ihre Weise. Ich empfehle unbedingt: die Übergrößen-Shopping-Freundin. Eine, die lieber eine Stunde bei Poppken, als bei Zara verbringt. Mit der man Klamotten und Tipps tauschen kann.

Girlfriends are always fantastic and make life better, each one her way. I advice: the plussize-shopping-friend. One that spends rather an hour at Poppken (German plussize label), than at Zara (Spanish lable for petites). One that you can exchange clothing and advice with. This is to say: I miss J., my all American gal!

Königin Kundin zu sein ist so angenehm im Übergrößen Segment. Plötzlich ist nicht mehr von dick oder gar fett die Rede. Nein, die Modeindustrie wählt blumigste Umschreibungen, damit Shopping auch jenseits der Größe 44 zum Erlebnis wird. Die Rede ist von „Big is beautiful“, „Pralle Welt“ für „pralle Prinzessinnen“, „Happy Size“, „Plus Size“, „Addition Elle“, „Generous“ und so weiter. Ich liebe es!

Being queen customer is so nice in the oversize segment. Suddenly there´s no such words as plump or even fat anymore. No, the fashion industry chooses the most flowery descriptions so that shopping ist fun even beyond size 16. It´s all about “Big is beautiful”, “chubby princesses”, “Happy Size”, “Plus Size”, “Addition Elle”, “Generous” and so on (actually in America there are even more nice brand names that I can´t all remember now). I love it!

Einmal Niete, immer Niete / Rivets once, rivets forever

Niemand will ne Niete sein, aber jeder will gern Nieten tragen. Seit ich meinen Lieblingsgürtel bei Addition Elle gefunden habe, trage ich ihn regelmäßig. Und praktischerweise passt die Hose auch dazu. Das rockt!
Nobody wants to be a palooka, but everybody wants to wear rivets (yeah...that joke doesn´t quite work in English, because in German palooka and rivet is the same word: Niete...I translate anyway). Since I found my favourite belt at Addition Elle I wear it regularly. And conveniently I have a pair of pants that perfectly goes with it. That rocks!

Lederjacken / Leatherjackets

Zuletzt waren wir ja bei Beth Ditto in deren Kollektion sich auch eine kurze und damit sehr arschbetonende Lederjacke befindet.

At last we´ve been dealing with Beth Ditto and her collection that also includes a very short and therefore very ass-accentuating leather jacket.

Trotzdem ist Leder hot, vor allem wenn es Falsches ist. Darum hier noch zwei Jacken die mir besser gefallen und dabei noch sehr günstig sind von C&A:

Das obere Exemplar gibt es bis Größe 54, das untere bis Größe 56/58. Sag ich extra dazu, weil die Models ja immer so klein aussehen.

The upper specimen is available up until size 26, the bottom one up until 28/30. Just saying, because the models always look so tiny.

Diggin Ditto?!

Schock! Schreck! Beth Ditto, dicke lesbische Punkrocksängerin, hat eine Modekollektion für Evans entworfen. Nein, natürlich ist niemand mehr geschockt. Die Spatzen pfeifen ja schon von den Dächern, dass Ditto hip.

War nicht immer so. Ich erinnere mich an das Hurricane Festival 2006 wo sie auftrat als "Standing in the way of control" noch ziemlich neu war und erst anfing beliebt zu werden. Zum einen war das kleine Festzelt (große Bühne war da noch nicht angesagt) relativ leer, zum anderen schrie der undankbare Mob immer dazwischen, wollte nur schnell den Hit und kein anderes Lied hören. Nett war das nicht. Aber die Band hielt aufrechten Hauptes durch und guter Geschmack setzte sich letztendlich auch durch (auch der Spiegel behauptet, dass es sich hier nur um eine Mainstream-Hofnärrin handelt die mal den Freak spielen darf: http://www.spiegel.de/kultur/musik/0,1518,630165,00.html ). Inwischen ist Schwester Beth auf ziemlich vielen Hochglanzcovern gewesen und hängt mit Kate Moss & Co ab.

Hasn´t always been like that. I remember the Hurricane Festival 2006 where she performed when "Standing in the way of control" was still pretty new and just started to become cool. For one the little festival tent (wasn´t time then for the big stages) was pretty empty and secondly the crowd kept yelling in between her other songs and announcements, as they just wanted to rapidly hear the hit and nothing else. Wasn´t nice at all. But the band made it through with heads held high and finally good taste won through. By now sister Beth has been on lots of glossy magazines and hangs out with Kate Moss & Company.

Ich liebe die Ditto ehrlich gesagt mehr für ihren Feminismus und die Musik als den Style. Obowohl ich natürlich glücklich bin, dass endlich mal wieder eine Übergrößen Prinzessin bei den Sternchen mitmitschen darf. Passiert leider viel zu selten. Die Teile der Kollektion sind ausgesprochen figurbetont und sooo 80ties! Nicht ganz mein Ding. Mir gefielen einzig folgend Teile:

To be honest I love Ditto more for her feminism and her music than for her style. Even though I am happy of course, that eventually once more a plussize princess gets to play with the stars. Happens unfortunately very rarely. The pieces of the collection are extremely figure-hugging and sooo 80ties. Not quite my cup of tea. I only liked these pieces:

Shoppingtrip London

Ja wir lieben Shopping, obwohl es nicht immer leicht ist in unserer Größe etwas Tolles zu finden und die Auswahl begrenzt ist. Ein tolle Möglichkeit den Übergrößen-Horizont und die Erlebniswelt zu erweitern sind Wochenendtrips. Da in Europa ja bekanntlich alles recht nah beieinander liegt zieht es mich immer in eine meiner Lieblingsstädte...London.
Yes, we love shopping, even tough it isn´t always easy to find something awesome in our size and the choices are limited. A great possibility to widen the oversize-horizon and the experience world is a weekend-trip. As generally known in Europe everything is pretty close to each other and I always long to travel to one of my favourite towns...London.

Für Accesoires und kleine Andenken finde ich den Camden-Market fantastisch.

Basic condition is the S&S-principal. Stands for first save & then shop till you drop. By mammoth-bustour one reaches the capital of the Brits over night to look at the shops above. For accessories and little memories I find Camden market fantastic. If you know any to add....your advice is highly welcome. Maybe any locals reading this?
